Presentation Magic – Spellbinding Storytelling – Charisma & The Audience
The Modern Alchemist
“Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow” Anthony D’Angelo
Welcome I’m Geoffrey X Lane
Let me explain. Throughout my 33 + years of professional speaking and program modern communication, I witnessed how hard-hitting rapid technological growth affects people. In fact, the trend is for more technology and more information than ever in our history. People are reeling under the massive information overload!
Fact! Humanity Is Facing A Major Challenge
I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say that we as a modern culture today have higher standards and bigger demands for ‘authentic’ expression. What I mean is being authentic as a leader, speaker, coach, facilitator or trainer is part of the value your client’s thirst for.
And here’s why.
If you are authentic, you get noticed and if you are not you will be perceived as fake. So why is this important? Research has proved that more and more psychologists are helping council individuals who are becoming disheartened and disenchanted in their efforts to find meaning, worth and happiness.
You see, people, inundated with ideas and information, are confused and frustrated about how to single out what is most important to them. What I discovered was that the challenge to stay sane while digesting more and more information was evident for all my facilitated audiences, large and small. So, here’s what I did. I developed The Modern Alchemist Training to help my audiences gain and retain information without going into information overload!
My Alchemist’s modern communication process allows you, the coach, program leader, or trainer to assist your client’s transformation to authentic expression. Using your energy, experience, and skills – you ultimately become the catalyst for the change your clients are hungry for. Hence you become the Alchemist.
And this method has proved itself, over and over to be successful helping audiences learn and retain information. And now I want to share this transformational process with you.
The Presentation Power: Mastery Program Elements:
These 3 modules will help you gain the knowledge, experience, skills and confidence you need to guarantee your message gets understood, recognized and acted upon in this visually overloaded world. And one of these workshops will put your professional presentation fears to rest – once and for all!
Module 1. Presentation Magic: Be Transformed
“There are only two types of speakers in the world. The nervous and the liars” Mark Twain
The purpose of the Presentation Magic: Transform workshop is to help you unlock your deeper power, release and tap into your authentic self-expression. Authority alone does not make a leader. Therefore, the ability to get your message across to persuade your listener is key.
Words are only part of the messages we send to each other. Emotion and intent, carried and amplified by body language, get amplified with the sound of the human voice.
When I show up in person, I can be myself. When I show up, I am heard in a very different way – a way that starts to build the relationship and deepen the understanding between listener and speaker. This creates an opportunity for a genuine exchange to take place.
This workshop will give you the core tools and skills you require to master your presentation techniques.
1.4 Million Times
Every day across North America executives, sales teams, and employees at every level are presenting critical information to their peers. In fact, the estimate is that 1.4 million presentations per day are taking place.
It is obvious that the need to explain, persuade and respond in a highly credible manner has never been greater. Presentation Power Workshop will equip you with advanced strategic presentations skills that are now demanded every day of your career. Today’s business climate is about high stakes and high profile and offers continuous, critical opportunities, both strategic and tactical, for you to make your mark in your organization and profession.
I am convinced the most crucial element of your professional success (in reaching your goals) is your ability to influence, inspire, motivate and encourage people.

Module 2. Spellbinding Storytelling & Script Writing
“If you can’t write your message in a sentence, you can’t say it in an hour Dianna Booher
Stories have been told ever since humans developed language and first gathered around fire. And for a good reason: a story is not just a powerful way to impart complex information; it gives the storyteller an opportunity to build an emotional bond with the audience.
Script writing is the essential skill to effective storytelling. Just as a director needs a great script in order to create a powerful movie, every speaker needs a great script in order to tell a powerful story. Script writing is the hidden structure behind every great story, without it there is no beginning, middle, ending or magical impact.
Hollywood movies simply, tell stories. But they all require a script!
Though writing a successful Hollywood movie is certainly not easy, the stories for mainstream Hollywood films are all built on only three basic components: character, desire and conflict.
Film stories portray heroes who face seemingly insurmountable obstacles as they pursue compelling objectives.
Plot structure simply determines the sequence of events that lead the listener towards understanding. And here’s the good news: whether you’re writing a graduation speech, business presentation or a workshop; all successful presentations follow the same basic structure.
Proper organization of your material helps the audience understand your ideas. An oral presentation containing the best material and the most convincing arguments may fail if it is not well organized. Even the most forceful personality may fail to convince his/her audience if his/her material is disorderly. To build an informative and persuasive presentation, you should help your listeners by providing them with guidelines.
Storytelling is a natural way of transferring wisdom, experience and one’s passion.
Storytelling is fast becoming one of the most popular methods of developing leaders. For many reasons, it’s not difficult – almost anyone can do it, everyone has a story to tell, and every story has the potential to be relevant and significant.
Stories are contagious – one person sharing their story to a group leads to others in the group sharing their stories with each other.
The communication environment within business is endlessly complex tiers of responsibility, clear and covert sources of power, entities with conflicting objectives, unspoken sentiments, suspicious motives, multifarious personalities and temperaments – a simple message is often stymied.
Organizations are learning that sharing stories helps to inspire partnership and truthfulness, which allows employees to let go of the rhetoric and politicking that may be overshadowing real breakthrough work.
Whether they are personal, heroic, or historical, sharing stories creates shared learning and understanding within a group by bringing personal goals and beliefs into business discussions.
Organizations that use storytelling as a leadership tool find that, on a personal level, engaging in candid discussion raises the comfort and confidence level of individuals.
Also, stories, influence teams and business units inspiring them to operate at peak performance – it boosts the number and quality of interactions, and improves the quality of outputs, and leads to increased business results throughout the organization.

Module 3. Charisma & The Audience
It takes one hour of preparation for each minute of presentation time Wayne. Burgaff
There are so many elements to producing and giving a speech, video blog, leading a workshop. In the first two modules you will have learnt how to speak, present and facilitate. But that’s not enough to be successful – especially if you are speaking to a live audience. And it is essential when training or facilitating online!
Charisma; learn how to unlock your personal charm, and increase your power of persuasion. Become a charismatic influencer!
Sound; learn about the best equipment audio and how to set it up for maximum effect. The audience will forgive a poor visual, but never poor sound. It will make or break your seminar.
Lighting; Learn what is the best equipment for lighting your seminar room or online training and how to set it up for maximum effect, so that you look and feel good.
Camera; What is the best camera to use, how do you choose? Is it for recording and how to set it up for maximum effect. Your access to technology matters.
A Road Warrior’s Experience
My first speaking gig was October 1973 – oh my a longtime ago -lol.
When I went to Australia in 1979 on a speaking tour, I made a classic assumption regarding equipment and logistics. I had been spoiled, accustomed to working with a very professional and tech-savvy team at Redken, and I assumed that everyone knew about this stuff! Australia had a very different system for audiovisuals, different electrical voltage, and different computer programs. What was fortunate for me was the resourcefulness of the sponsors, who were used to North Americans and their assumptions.
I related my experience to a friend, who was a pilot, and he suggested developing a checklist so that I would not experience that degree of anxiety and chaos before I got up to make my presentation. I decided that if this approach worked for a professional pilot, it would probably also help me. Since then technology has overturned many of problems and created even more!
In this is a very practical workshop, you will learn what actually works!
Speakers, presenters, coaches, and leaders use various online tools and systems, often relying on the tech dept to make the choice – which is often wrong for the audience.
The technology used affects the delivery presentation helping to the message or information to be delivered to the audience. What is the most effective medium through which to deliver the arrow; is it PowerPoint slides, handouts, a flip chart, audio-visuals or even direct access to a website? The tools selected must fit the message, room and audience and yes this can be tricky.
To ensure success, you need to identify the most effective tool for enhancing your message, bearing in mind the audience and the environment. As most business presentations today have audiences of 10-25 people, you will need to choose your audiovisual support tools according to your environment. How do I make decision and what criteria is it based on?
If you are speaking at a convention in large auditoriums or convention centers you will have provide your presentation in advance and they will load it into their own system. How do I do this and safeguard my information?
Presenting online; Which is the best software? Which service works best? What is band width? What the best computer for online? What is the best HD Camera? Why does sound matter more than image?
Always check it out first…
Here are some of the topics covered:
- Giant screens, and wall sized screens
- Webinars, seminars and coaching – there are some amazing new platforms available allowing such clarity and engagement with the audience, will they replace the live speaker?
- High-intensity projectors, so small they can fit in a briefcase.
- Animation is becoming very affordable and can help tell your story
- Video or digital clips inserted into your software presentation, even a live link can be used.
- Audio clips inserted into your software presentation, even a live link can be used.
- Your natural voice; get a voice coach and learn how to project, stage whisper
- Wireless microphone connected to a public address system or through soundboard for modulation of tone and pitch.
- Natural look or make-up.
- Dressing so as to fit in and belong or dressing for dramatic effect in order to separate yourself from the audience.
