20 Minutes To Success

That sounds easy, and yes there is a catch of course. We have all heard the story of the overnight success that only took 15 years.  It is 10 minutes twice day, every working day to keep you focused and to help you create the success you want.

Are you part of the problem or part of the solution?

Your goal is very important and good system will get you there. If you truly want to change and become a successful then become dedicated and disciplined using a system that helps you to get there. Another way to look at it I look at is this way, you have 1,000 minutes a day. The challenge is to take twenty minutes to make the other 980 more effective, more productive and more positive, and contribute to your success.

As you start your business day ask yourself these questions:

  • Do I do it?
  • Do I delegate it?
  • Do I dump it?

This will help you to prioritize you time, energy, and overtime will increase your effectiveness, focus and results. As a leader getting stuck in “I need to do this so that it is done right the first time” prevents your staff learning and eats up your valuable time. Will they make mistakes, yes, but they will also create results and learn to be productive – lead by example.

At the end of the day ask yourself these three questions:

  • What worked?
  • What did NOT work?
  • What can I do differently?

Make sure you follow the specific order of the questions, as in N. America we are trained to respond to the negative first, often missing what really contributes to success. Often, we miss what part worked, and which part did not work. By asking myself “what can I do differently” send me looking for alternative solutions and innovation rather than being stuck in habits – the worse being “that’s the way we do it here”.

This system works for me, I challenge you to commit for 30days, 10 minutes in the am and 10 minutes in the pm. You may ask will ‘this really work’ well here is what the author of “The Book of Awesome” and “The Happiness Equation” Neil Pasricha:

“Systems beat goals every time,” Pasricha said, and added that if we truly want change, we have to force ourselves to change.

Long before I heard of Neil Pasricha, I had been coaching people to use this system and I know it works, it is however up to you to put the effort in nothing happens until you commit to make the change.
